Located next to the Old Spitalfields Market in a converted bank, Blixen is a restaurant in the style of the European grand cafés, with a focus on beautiful design, consistent quality and the true spirit of hospitality. But before you read on, make sure you will make a reservation before your visit. It will be busy!
THE PLACE TO BE
Blixen is that kind of cafe everyone is talking about. The place you have to visit when in London and the place with that very nice menu. The funny fact about Blixen is that it is located next to one of my favorite outside markets of London. So when you made a reservation at 1PM, make sure you’ll be there at 12:00, because you’ll walk around for a while. When we were arriving we have to wait for a few minutes at he kitchen counter, before our table was ready in the garden. That wasn’t a problem at all and by the way, this way we could see the whole inside interior that caught my attention anyway.
Then we were guided to the garden of Blixen, where we ordered some goodies. We started with some drinks, truffle popcorn and homemade hummus. This was definately worth the wait. Really go for the truffle popcorn! I never had it before but it was really good! Thereby, it’s such a nice area to look around and take some pictures, which I did of course.
PANCAKES FOR BRUNCH
Then they served us our main dish, which was amazing! Pancakes with blueberry on top, next to it and inside. Sooooo good! Together with a topping of whipped mascarpone, so there really s a heaven. I would absolutely choose the exact same dish the next time I will come and visit again. My boyfriend had a House hot-smoked salmon, avocado & poached eggs on bread. It was a good option as well but I saw a jealous look in his face when he looked at my plate. Both dishes were under £10,-.
