Mother Goose Hotel

Mother Goose Hotel

Mother Goose Hotel in Utrecht is a beautiful centrally located boutique hotel that you cannot miss as an interior lover. Utrecht City Hotels asked me to spend a night here. Read all about my experience and find out why you have to sleep here.

The History

Mother Goose Hotel is located in the former buildings of Ubica. The Ubica buildings, as they are called now-a-days, owe their name to the mattress factory that was established here between 1931 and 1990. Squatters took over the building from the 80’s. They made them suitable for 10 to 15 squatters and painted the façade of the Ubica buildings black and white. Many people were upset about this new look. In their eyes it did not match the reasonable conditions for prosperity. In May 2013 the court said that the Ubica building had to be evacuated. So that happened. In 2012 the Ubica buildings were bought by the current owners. They had the intention of turning it into a hotel and grand café. Two years later Mother Goose Hotel has born. Anice representative hotel of modern Utrecht.

The Location

The Mother Goose hotel is located at Ganzenmarkt in the city center of Utrecht. This is an excellent location where you are close to everywhere. Thinking of the restaurants, the nice neighborhoods, the cute shops and more. You are able to park your car in their parking garage at 2 minutes walking distance. Nevertheless, I would advise you to come by public transport. It might be busy in the city center.

The Service

“No standard hotel experience, but being taken under the wings of Mother Goose”, they promise. Upon entering you will be warmly greeted by the friendly staff of Mother Goose. Creating an experience of coming home and being pampered is what they do best. Cozy decorated entrance and wooden details will grab your attention. The staff have a great knowledge about the origin of the hotel and are happy to tell you all about it. After handing over the hotel key you will be offered the map of Utrecht. Your city trip has officially started!

The Room

Room number 103 was mine. It was the white suite on the 1st floor that gave me that unique experience. After I’ve entered  my suite I fall from one surprise into another. An oasis of peace came closer to me. A spacious room with white elements and soft decoration. A beautiful stone wall with a lovely bed in the middle. A super modern bathroom with a large bathtub for two. High cut windows and trendy seating areas. Perfection exists and I decided to stay. Forever. They just don’t know it yet. A little side note, beware of the fact that all rooms have their own character.  From romantic shades of white to mysterious black, every mood is taken care of by the rooms of Mother Goose, beautifully decorated by Morph Design.

The Facilities

Oh and then we have the facilities of the Mother Goose hotel. Another thing they did great at. Beside the fancy bathtub which only comes with the suites, you can enjoy the delicious Nespresso coffee that is present in every room. Thereby they offer room service via an external location that will bring the order to your hotel room. In the morning, I’d enjoy a grand breakfast that is served around the corner of the hotel called Dean’s. A concept store that also provides breakfast and lunch.

All by all, I had a fairytale stay at the Mother Goose hotel in Utrecht. Not only am I greatly spoiled by the beautiful room, the excellent location and the good service. I also enjoyed the extensive breakfast and the fact I went home with a large collection of beautiful photos. An absolute must if you like luxury just like me with a personal touch.
