Palmenhaus | cafe, restaurant and bar

The Palmenhaus is located in the first district of the inner city of Vienna. It’s on the edge of the Burggarten, near the Albertina and the State Opera. It was the first lunch we had in Vienna and we were really surprised by the beautiful looks of its in- and outside.

The first impression from the outside was great. Then we came inside and saw the beautiful green interior. Because it has a length of 15 meters, the ceiling is pretty high. The building is made of class. This way it let’s in a lot of light, which I love the most, while taking some pictures. The plants are huge as well and it really give you that jungle-impression. Loved it.

People stop by here for having breakfast, lunch, dinner, a drink or just some coffee with cake. So many options and that’s what makes it so diverse. It makes it lively and atmospheric.

My reason while visiting the Palmenhaus was, obviously, for lunch. Because we just arrived in Vienna by airplane, I was pretty hungry but in for something light. When soup catches my eye, I was sold. Soup it was. For my hun, a sandwich with goatcheese. I loved his sandwich a bit more then I love my soup. It was a cauliflower soup, but there was a hint of curry in which I do not like that much.

When in Vienna, you have to try at least one time, the apple strudel. I tried mine here, after my soup. For Apple Strudel I will not invite you to this place. For the real Apple Strudel you have to go to Cafe Landtmann! They claim you that they have the best Apple Strudel in Vienna. And I have to admit, they really do!

All by all we had a really good time in the Palmenhaus. And i absolutely prefer you to visit this place while you’re here. Next to the restaurant you can join the butterfly garden, against payment of course.
